Lauren was born and raised in a suburb of Portland, Oregon, where she studied ballet, lyrical, and contemporary dance — the strength-based fine arts. After graduating from Willamette University, Lauren moved to NYC to earn her PhD in modern European history, which she completed in 2015.
Having never been good at sitting still, but also having never fitnessed beyond an elliptical, Lauren went to Crossfit NYC in 2013 looking for someone to show her the difference between a barbell and a dumbbell. She was immediately hooked. After completing 300 mentorship hours in 2017, Lauren began coaching at CFNYC, and still hasn’t been inside a globo gym. She also got her mom to start Crossfit at the age of 63 and won’t stop bragging about it.
