Can you believe it is time for our 2nd annual Whole30 Nutrition Challenge? For those of you that are not familiar with the Whole30, technically speaking it is an entire nutritional and habitual 30 day reset. But secretly, it’s a life changer. Really and truly.
“It will change the way you think about food, it will change your tastes, it will change your habits and your cravings. It could, quite possibly, change the emotional relationship you have with food, and with your body. It has the potential to change the way you eat for the rest of your life.
The physical benefits of the Whole30 are profound. More than 95% of participants lose weight and improve their body composition, without counting or restricting calories. In addition, the Whole30 is designed to reduce inflammation and strengthen the immune system, leading to speedier recovery from exercise. Remember, you don’t get fitter when you’re CrossFitting, you get fitter when you’re recovering from CrossFit. And we’re pretty sure you want all the hard work you’re doing in here to pay off, right?
The psychological benefits of the Whole30 may be even more dramatic. Through the program, participants report effectively changing long-standing, unhealthy habits related to food, developing a healthier body image, and a dramatic reduction or elimination of cravings, particularly for sugar and carbohydrates. The words so many Whole30 participants use to describe this place? “Food freedom.” Now that sounds delightful!
Finally, testimonials from thousands of Whole30 participants document the improvement or “cure” of any number of lifestyle-related diseases and conditions. Such as: high blood pressure • high cholesterol • type 1 diabetes • type 2 diabetes • asthma • allergies • sinus infections • migraines • depression • bipolar disorder • heartburn • GERD • arthritis • ADD • thyroid dysfunction • lupus • leaky gut syndrome • Crohn’s • IBS • Celiac disease • ulcerative colitis just to name a few.
Any of this sound good to you? Yeah, us too. Join us in what is bound to be a real journey. We will have a closed Facebook page (CFNYC Whole30 2015) for participants only, meet-ups throughout the month, and a party at the end to celebrate our victories with high fives, good eats, and prizes!
If you’re in…keep reading…
Here’s how to start:
1) Sign up for the Whole30 seminar on Dec 12th. We are hosting these 2 hour seminars HERE: (9am OR 12pm) to help all of the Challengers prepare. Take advantage of this resource! The seminars sold out last year and registration is open exclusively for CFNYC until October 11th, and then everyone and their mother will be able to sign up. And they will. So hurry!
2) Consult with your doctor.
3) Sign up here for the actual challenge: Whole30 Nutrition Challenge running from January 4th till February 2nd.
There is a $10 fee. This fee will offset the cost of the prizes on prizes on prizes that we will be giving out. Also, we think a small financial investment helps make it real. The deadline to register for the challenge is Saturday December 26th. This will give us time to get everyone in the Facebook group, get prepped with your groceries, and take your pics and measurements. In other words it will give you time to get your head in the game. I’ll be sending out the participant emails regularly to any new registrants.
4) Order and read: It Starts With Food This is a must. You cannot do Whole30 without reading this….and we’ll know if you didn’t!
(5) Once you register you will receive an email* with all of the rules and info that we need for you to get started, such as measurements, and weight. Remember, no-one else will see your numbers. Also, if you prefer not to share your weight, or measurements with us, that is 100% ok.
You do NOT need to submit any info in order to particpate in the challenge, only to be eligible for certain prizes. Its entirely your choice. I do however, encourage you to still take them, and keep them for your records, you will want to see all that work pay off.
*Make sure that you have not “unsubscribed” from receiving emails from CFNYC in the past.
Not sure you have a lot of weight to lose, or improvement to make in your performance? Worried that will make it impossible for you to win a prize? No worries! The benefit of feeling great will be prize enough…..Just KIDDING! There will be all sorts of ways to win. Such as: Most improved benchmark WOD. Most improved body weight. Most improved body composition. Most medically improved (ie reduction in asthma, chronic pain, diabetes, anxiety, eczema, tendinitis, etc.) Best documentation of the process (up to interpretation.) Most active (meet-ups and social media). Most supportive and overall in-it-to win-it attitude.
