Say Cheese

Hi Everyone,

I’m a photographer and I’ve been itching to bring a large format camera to the box to take advantage of those awesome north facing windows at 28th street. Well, Josh, Hari, and Court have been kind enough to let me set up a makeshift studio there this coming Tuesday (March 19th) and Wednesday (March 20th) from 9am until 4:30pm and I’ll be making portraits of CrossFit athletes. Before your workout or after, in your street clothes or straight from the WOD still dripping with sweat, (or even both) I don’t care. I’m interested in the people I’ve been crossfitting with and want to capture you on film. Time permitting, I may also incorporate a brief video interview into each sitting.

If you are interested (or even just willing) to have your portrait made please leave a comment on this post (or email me: lomoeye AT yahoo DOT com) and let me know what time you think you can come by. The process should take less than ten minutes. Thanks!

    6AM CFE: I did it.

Remember how a few months ago I said something about not taking 3 weeks off from running and then get back to it? I should follow my own advice.

I’ve gotten some good questions about the portraits at the box. I’m only shooting until 4 or 4:30 because I’m relying as much as I can on natural light. After that those windows will be dark. This is free, but like all things free you get what you pay for. It may take me some time to process the film, scan it, and send you images. Later in the spring I’ll find some darkroom time and make prints of my favorite images and I’ll certainly share those too. But as you can probably sense from this post, it may be a while.

What I hope to achieve is a set of about 20-24 black and white 10″by12″ prints that work well together as a set and that could be shown together. So I need lots of you to stop by if you’d like. I hope to shoot at least 40 portraits in the two days. Thanks again!

So as it turns out, not only is Kyle a good instructor but a keenly attentive DJ… how else did he know that imagining myself as DMX and Toma as Sisqo was the only way I could get thru this work out with a reasonably respectable time?

    • AM:45’s reasonably respectable times. Thanks, “Thong Song,” etc.

  • How do I sign up for the Open WOD’s this week? they arn’t on the schedule.
