EXCITING NEWS! Paul Jaminet, co-author of The Perfect Health Diet, will be doing a brief Q&A with CFNYC members talk while he’s in town for business this Thursday from 5-6pm at the new space at 44 W. 28th St., 2nd floor. Paul writes: “I think since time is so limited it would be best to prioritize Q&A. I’ll bring printouts of our food plate and if people want me to talk, I can talk about that, why the food plate was constructed the way it is, why different things are healthy. For example, what factors determine meat quality, why beef is better than pork, if people are interested in that; or which plant foods are better.” This is a great opportunity for anyone who missed Paul’s earlier talk for us this past fall. This talk is free to all members of CrossFit NYC, including Elements students.

    4:19 WOD.

First time in the 6 am, and I was able to pull of my Fran fantasy pullup scheme of (8-7-6)(8-7)(9) with pull ups. Not a bad way to start the day.

  • A. 73-73-73-83-83
    B.Yesterday’s WOD: 9:58

  • WOD: 6:17 Rx.

Disqus has been flagging my standings update as spam or something, I’ve been having trouble posting them. so I’ll just try to keep it real brief.

  • So what are our predictions for the 1st games WOD?

I’m thinking an amrap w/ OHS, HSPU and hand release pushups

    • Naveen

I think first wod will be less likely to require scaling for most people than subsequent wods.  Maybe box jumps, wall balls, push ups

  • your predictions*

    • Hari

      Three predictions:

HSPU’s will appear in one of the WOD’s.
DU’s will not appear in any of the WOD’s.
A static hold will appear in one of the WOD’s.

      • good call on the static hold. I would love it if they didn’t include double unders.

Too bad they won’t have a row or run during the open.

  • Asegal04

    A. 145, 155×6, 145, 145

    B. 4:05 RX
    PU: (21), (6,4,3,2) (3,3,3)

My pullups really suck, not to make excuses but I wasted 30 seconds struggling through them.  Should have been a sub 4 workout, I will be adding pullups to the list of items to work on….

Props to the others in the 12:  quite a few people crushed this WOD

  • Jason L.

    Back Squat (high bar) – 275, 295, 305
    Barbell Row – 5×165#
    Single-Arm KB Press – 5x28kg each side

    50 step-ups on 28″ box w/ 45# vest – 3:45

Hoping to hit the open workout tonight

    • Jason L.

oops,  3×5 on the squat, 5×5 on the row and press

  • Hari

We know that many of you have questions about how we will handle the specific details of Open. We will need to make decisions that are unique to each of the WOD’s. We will be doing the Open WOD at 8:30 PM tonight for the first time. It is likely that we will need people to register on Saturday. At this point, we simply cannot predict the logistics.

Do not assume that you can do the Open WOD any time you like. We will do our best to accommodate everyone, but we will need to have some (as of yet undefined) rules. For example, if the first WOD is 165-lb C&J’s, we will have a completely different situation than if the WOD is 50 burpees for time. We have enough equipment, space, coaches, mentors, and members to solve whatever gets thrown our way.

I will post additional comments later this evening. You belong to the affiliate that will do the most Open WOD’s in the world. We’ll take care of you (and of CrossFitters from all over the world who may need our resources during the Open).

We are a resource for our members and for the CrossFit community at large.
