Getting Started at CrossFit NYC

We know CrossFit has an intimidating reputation, so we’ve created a smooth on-ramp process for new members:

1. Take a Free Intro Class

A free Intro class is the first step in deciding whether CrossFit NYC is right for you. You don’t need to “get in shape” to attend a free intro class, as we’ve scaled them to be friendly and accessible for any fitness level. You can register for a class here, then simply show up. We have lockers, showers and towel service at our 28th St. and Columbus Ave. locations.

2. Sign Up

To get started after your Free Intro, join CrossFit NYC!

Our pricing is fair, simple, and straightforward with no contracts, no initiation fees, and no cancellation fees.

And, yes, we’re the best-priced CrossFit box in New York City.

3. Complete Elements

Our Elements on-ramp sequence consists of classes A, B, C, and D, to be taken in that order, which teaches the basics of CrossFit in a fun, friendly and safe environment. Class A, B, C, and D are offered eight times on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday respectively.  During the weekend all four sessions are offered at both locations.

You’ll need a member of Reception to sign you up for your Elements classes. (Email us at or see us at the Front Desk.)

After you’ve completed Class D….

4. Hit the WOD

Once you’ve taken all four Elements classes, talk to our front desk, so they can set you up to be able to register for Beginner WODs (“Workout of the Day”), OlyWODs (after completion of Post-Elements 1 and 2), and CrossFit Endurance classes.

After you’ve finished Elements you should plan to register for Post Elements classes. We offer 2 one hour small group classes on more technical movements that you will see in class.

We recommend that you take these classes as soon as possible after Elements is completed:

Post-Elements #1: The Snatch

Post- Elements #2: The Clean and Jerk

Note: If you are coming from another CrossFit affiliate, and have completed a comparable level of CrossFit-specific training, you may be able to skip Elements. Please email us to let us know about your background.

If you’re returning to CFNYC after time off, we highly recommend you take Elements A-D, both as a refresher and an opportunity to ramp back up the intensity. You’ll also get the chance to meet our staff and community before hopping into the WOD.
