CrossFit NYC Weightlifting: First Place Overall Team at 2016 NYC Open Weightlifting Meet

CrossFit NYC’s Olympic Weightlifting Team competed in their second competition at the 2016 NYC Open in Garden City, NY. Most every single lifter placed in the top three in their respective weight categories, on top of hitting personal bests in competition or overall.

Women’s Results

Jenn Nelson lifted 39kg in the Snatch and 50kg in the Clean + Jerk for an 89kg Total, a 7kg PR from the previous competition. She took first place in the Women’s 53kg category.

Amanda Palmeri lifted 50kg in the Snatch and 60kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 110kg Total, a 10kg PR from the previous competition. She took second place in the Women’s 58kg category.

Cheryl Zhao lifted 56kg in the Snatch and 70kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 126kg Total, a 4kg PR from the previous competition. She took first place in the Women’s 63kg category, after previously dropping down from the 69kg category.

Chelsea Reagan lifted 53kg in the Snatch and 67kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 120kg Total, a 16kg PR from the previous competition. Both lifts were competition personal records in the Women’s 69kg category.

Jessica Avelar lifted 40kg in the Snatch and 57kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 97kg Total, a 10kg PR from the previous competition. She took first place in the Women’s 75kg category.

Amber Rodriguez lifted 43kg in the Snatch and 56kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 99kg Total for her first competition. She made all of her attempts and took second place in the Women’s +75kg category.

Lauren Salz lifted 56kg in the Snatch and 66kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 122kg Total for her first competition. The Clean + Jerk was an all time personal record. She took first place in the Women’s +75kg category.

Men’s Results

Lรขn Nguyen lifted 75kg in the Snatch and 90kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 165kg Total, a 25kg PR from his last competition. He took second place in the Men’s 69kg category.

Nicolas Box-Rubio lifted 58kg in the Snatch and 65kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 123kg Total in his first competition in the 77kg category.

Sean Maher lifted 57kg in the Snatch and 80kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 137kg Total after dropping down from the 85kg category to the 77kg category from the previous competition.

Jason Foreit lifted 80kg in the Snatch and 118kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 198kg Total in the Men’s 77kg category, a 6kg from his last competition and a personal record in the Clean + Jerk.

Brian DeGennaro lifted 115kg in the Snatch and 150kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 265kg Total. He took first place in the Men’s 77kg category and won Best Male Lifter of the entire competition.

Josh Friedman lifted 65kg in the Snatch and 85kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 150kg Total in his first competition in the Men’s 85kg category.

Vin Turk lifted 85kg in the Snatch and 105kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 190kg Total in his first competition. He took third place in the Men’s 85kg category, beating his competitor out by having a slightly lighter bodyweight.

Alex Bromberg lifted 85kg in the Snatch and 110kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 195kg Total in his first competition. He took second place in the Men’s 85kg category.

Sherif Elshoubri lifted 76kg in the Snatch and 105kg in the Clean + Jerk for a 181 Total, a 7kg PR from the previous competition. He took second place in the Men’s 105kg category.
