Fight Gone Bad 6 is here!

Can’t be with us today but still want to donate to our efforts at the Fight Gone Bad 6 charity event? Click here to donate to one of the members of Team CFNYC! (Simply click on “Search by Team” then choose country: USA, state: New York, team: CrossFit NYC, then choose a member of our team to whom you would like to donate. Thanks!)

In addition to our regularly scheduled Free Beginners’ Classes at 10am and noon today, from 9am through 4pm today, we will be doing the “Fight Gone Bad” workout on a first-come, first-served basis, giving priority to those who have already joined our team and fundraised pre-registered for time slots at the top of each hour. (Given the 7-hour schedule, we do not expect any problems in getting people through in a timely fashion.) Expect your visit to take an hour, from warming up, to doing the workout with a partner counting reps for you, and then returning the favor for him or her. We will have a full supply of healthy snack options for post-workout refueling to thank you for your participation and fundraising efforts (fresh and dried fruits, nuts, etc.).

Of the 129 people on Team CrossFit NYC, 57 of us have yet to raise any money. If you are one of these people and plan to participate, please donate at least $25 to yourself before you arrive. While we can use the gym computer to process donations, it will be easier if you could take care of this at home before you come in. Fight Gone Bad 6 is about helping others, not just getting through a tough WOD. So please honor the cause by putting your money where your mouth is. (If it turns out you cannot participate, we’d still appreciate if you could donate to a fellow teammate, especially one who is is close to reaching his or her $150 goal to get the free FGB6 t-shirt.)

People can continue to donate to your profile page through September 23rd, so if you haven’t yet reached your $150 goal to receive a free t-shirt (or your $500 goal to receive a free hoodie), don’t worry, you still have a chance to qualify for one.

If you can, please bring a camera and/or video camera (even if it’s just on your phone!) to help us document the day–let’s make this day a celebration of our community and how we can work together for the greater good and have fun while we do so!

  • Nick W.

9am session: 279 Rx’d. First FGB. Nice morning and a great turnout.

  • My strategy was stupid. I was tried to hit 25 reps each station each round. Worked great for the first round as I hit rep 25 with about 10 seconds to go so I thought I’d get more rest and not burn out. If I had just kept adding reps during the first round my score would have been around 315-320. Instead my sandbagging laziness got me 298. So I missed my 300 rep goal by two. Lame. Next time you see me, laugh at me.

I felt like crap today due to a cold, but the energy at the gym today was amazing and really helped me push myself. Thanks to all the athletes, spectators, and donors to this amazing event. Next time I’m breaking 400

I’m sorry I missed doing this at the box with everyone, sounds like it was a lot of fun. But I was able to do the wod here in San Diego, CrossFit mission gorge was gracious enough to let me join them. 234 rx’ed, PR from last time.
