Samantha Briggs is our next Visiting Coach, this Friday evening at 6:30pm!

We’re proud to have 4th-place finisher at the 2011 CrossFit Games Samantha Briggs as our next visiting coach as part of our ongoing “Visiting Coach Series.” Please make her feel welcome by coming out this Friday night, September 2nd, from 6:30-7:30pm for her Q&A. The event is free and anyone from the CrossFit community is welcome to attend. Feel free to hit a WOD class before or after, as the 6:30pm WOD will be canceled to accommodate her visit with us.

Here’s some background on Sam: she’s been a firefighter for 7 years in Manchester, England. She played amateur soccer until a re-occurring ankle injury forced retirement. To fill the void, she started running and dabbling in triathlons/duathlons until she discovered CrossFit in May 2009. She trains at CrossFit Central Manchester and has participated in the 2010 and 2011 CrossFit Games.

Sam keeps a blog of her CrossFit training and competition and today she posted about winning bronze in the “Ultimate Firefighter” event at the 2011 World Police & Fire Games which are ongoing in NYC right now.

    Pure pain – my last pullup was a sloppy joke so once I could stand again I cranked out one more. It’s a long road to 95 lbs on those thrusters when I’m breaking up the round of 9 with just the bar.
