  • Hey people!
    A couple of things:
    1) 3 of today’s links were things that readers posted to yesterday’s comments. they were great links so I included them today because I know not all our readers read the comments. If ever you want to submit a link, either post it to comments or email it to me (allisonATcrossfitnycDOTcom).
    2) I’m soliciting you guys and gals for testimonials for the blog as I am developing a testimonials page that will live on the blog. If you’re interested in raving about how awesome CFNYC is, just drop me a line. : )
    3) Relatedly, I’m also going to start doing a new thing here on the blog called “Who’s Who.” I’m totally stealing the idea from the most-excellent CrossFit Portland. Here’s an example of their interview format: . For the “Who’s Who” feature, I want to profile anyone who’s been a member for 6 months. Again, if you’re interested, just drop me a line.
4)If you want to run in the great outdoors tonight instead of rest, the NYC Endurance kids are going up to Van Cortland Park for a 5k race. Just $5. Starts @ 7pm sharp. Last stop on the 1 train, get there early. (There will be people there to watch your bags.) Van Cortland is a tough but gorgeous cross-country trail and well worth trying. At the very least you could go cheer on some friends…

Hey I left a pair of silver Ray Bans in one of the cubbies at the front of the gym. If anyone finds them please leave them at the front desk, I’ll grab them tmr.

  • Steveo-O

theres no kangaroo but i promise there is a giraffe, you can see its head and neck sticking out from behind one of the bushes to the left

  • Leslie

@Allison….totally glad to hear you’re doing a who’s who. I was just thinking about that today that I would love to learn more about the Cross Fitters! Just FYI, the link didn’t lead to a sample. I’d be gamed to be interviewed if you’re interested

Bryce and I were talking on Tuesday about maybe having some internal competitions at the Black Box on a weekend. Maybe one weekend a month. Just for fun, and to let people see how they stack up. Anyone interested?

  • Emerson

    I’m definitely interested in competing.

  • Jai

Competing sounds fun. But will we be practicing for Fight Gone Bad some more? I still need some skillz for the upcoming fundraiser.
Should we already be soliciting donations for that?
    I’m in for a Who’s Who.

  • Hey guys, I fixed the link in my earlier comment so you can see an example of a Who’s Who profile.
If you’re interested in being profiled, just send me an e-mail entitled “Who’s Who.” (I already have my first subject, who emailed me this morning.)
Lastly, yes, Fight Gone Bad V is coming up very soon and those who want to participate will want to start practicing and also get signed up ( Look for more info here on the blog in tomorrow’s post.

  • Tim B

    I’d be interested in competing

  • Jeff

Regarding the Who’s Who, I think there should be a 12 part mini-series based on me. Am I right? Who’s with me here?

  • Yeah, Jeff, because all of this attention for you:
    isn’t enough. ; )
Seriously, though, I would like to profile coaches as well as members. Anyone who has been a part of the Box for at least 6 months is eligible.
So email a blogger, won’t ya?

  • Aleksey Vayner (AKA-MC)

I’d nominate myself for a profile but I’m still recovering from one I did a few years ago:

  • Lenny

    Im interested in competing.

  • Mike Mishik

I’m always in for a good showdown

  • Mike K

And the Lenny vs. Mike M grudge match is on!

  • Adam

I’d be interested in a competition

  • Guy

I have a few questions about the enigma that is JEFF YAN
What does he actually do when he’s not at the box?
How many times has he gone to McDonalds at 10:25, ordered 2 egg mcmuffins for 2 bucks and then ordered 2 filet o fish for 2 bucks at 10:35?
What’s his white castle slider PR?
Does John Conti really have the best coffee in town

  • Hari

For those interested in a intra Box competition, I will outline a plan shortly.

  • Bryce

I’d like to have a competition with multiple WODs to replicate a game day competition.
High skill movements, squat snatches, pistols, muscle-ups, would be much appreciated.

  • Brett_nyc

What does he actually do when he’s not at the box?
    -He eats.
How many times has he gone to McDonalds at 10:25, ordered 2 egg mcmuffins for 2 bucks and then ordered 2 filet o fish for 2 bucks at 10:35?
-Trick question, he orders 10 egg McMuffins then 10 filet of fish.
What’s his white castle slider PR?
-This is more of an Hours of Operation question. He only stops when they close, which varies from borough to borough. His current record is 19 hours straight at the branch near the old BBB.

  • jenn

    A) 27:03 (12k)
    2) I’d be down for intra-box competing, but are there enough ladies there to compete with?
iii) Q of the Day: I just made a delicious paleo dinner – broiled pork chops seasoned with black pepper and garlic served with sauteed mixed veggies (chopped squash, carrots, tomatoes, onions) seasoned with black pepper, garlic, and red pepper flakes. So tasty and filling. The best part of Paleo is you can actually taste the foods you’re eating, as opposed to the salt and other processed stuff some non-paleo meals use.

Mathematically speaking, there must exist at least one town somewhere in the universe where John Conti could provide the best coffee.
