PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS WOD WILL HAVE TO BE MODIFIED FOR THE GROUP-CLASS ENVIRONMENT! Your instructor will assess how best to get everyone through some version of “Linda,” but it’s impossible for each person to have her or his own 3 bars.
With that in mind, here are scaling options for today’s WOD, courtesy of the CrossFit BrandX forums:
    ———————–
    Big Dawgs:
    As RX’d
    Pack:
    Either Scale the weight back
    or
Drop the sets doing 10-8-6-4-2 with the rx’d weights.
    Puppies:
Scale the weight back and drop the sets as shown above.
Check out this thread for an excellent discussion on power and scaling. Toward the end JDG discusses Linda.

I hope Gillian doesn’t mind me posting this…

It should be noted that at the time that video was first posted, Gillian had already improved her Linda time to something like 12 minutes.

How many inches are the PVC pipes at the box? Looking to get my own to work on my technique.

  • Natalie

    16:44 (123, pushups, 57)

    compared to 24:18 in mid-August.
Got my first blister rip. woohoo!

  • Jeff

    Seth
If you’re looking to improve your ability to lift PVC pipes, then measure them. However, if you’re looking to improve your ability to lift barbells, it might make more sense to measure barbells.

  • http://allisonbojarski.tumblr.com Allison Bojarski

    Seth,
I find a broom handle from the hardware store works as fine as PVC does and it’s easier to buy.

I think there should be some additions to the “winter rules”
    – staff willl keep shampoo, soap, and tp stocked
    – staff will keep flloor and showers clean

  • jake

How are you guys working this tonight since the need for lots of bars and benches

  • Craig F

Does anybody have any opinions on weightlifting shoes?
Specifically the 2010 Rogues vs. the 2010 Pendlays?
Same price, just looking to get a little feedback before I purchase. Thanks

  • Jeff

    Craig F
Both those shoes are made by Do-Wins. Are you certain that they are actually different?

  • Craig F

    Jeff,
I think they are extremely similar, but the Rogue is suede and has 2 straps. Those seem to be the differences and maybe they don’t matter at all. just was wondering if anybody could shed some light on the shoes.
    thanks

  • jake

I guess I could have read the 1st comment
    disregard my question

The staff will do a better job keeping soap and shampoo in the showers.
There are cases of towels and toilet paper in the back corner where we keep the wall balls and abmats. Members should feel free to grab as needed.
The gym is thoroughly cleaned three times per week. Is the reference primarily to the showers or to the rubber mats on the main floor? If the former, then this may have to do with people tracking wet shoes from the streets into the showers and/or not using the shower curtains correctly.
Members should feel free to elaborate on what they think should be done.

  • Seth

The showers in the a.m. have been clean, only concern is water tends to build up on the floor and can create a mini puddle.
I would suggest to put down a rubber mat with holes, something that looks like a crate.

  • Lenny

    Dear Craig F,
I have the shiny blue ones and that automatically makes them awesome. Just don’t get blue. Get the red ones.

  • Another member.

With folks trekking in and out of the shower rooms, there is no way to keep floors clean and dry between use. I think memebers need to wipe up and pack that wet & dirty towel or whatever with the rest of their gym clothes.

    BW: 143
    DL: 215
BP: subbed ring push-ups with 30# vest to floor
    Cleans: 115
3 min faster than last time with the same weights. You’d think that would be because the ring push-ups are faster, but those were harder than I expected and dealing with getting the vest on/off took some time.
Since there’s probably not gonna be a ton of bars available tonight, I’d suggest giving the weighted vest ring push-ups a shot instead of bench from the floor or waiting forever to do it Rx’d.

  • Scott

Hari – It would be great if you could rehang the coat rack that was taken down to accommodate the new shelves.
Many of us in the AM class used those to hang our dress clothes on.
    Thanks

  • Jeff

    bw: 155-160
    5-4-3-2-1
    DL 275# (~170% bw)
    BP 205# (~125% bw)
    C 165# (~100% bw)
    7:18
Should have gone with 285# on DL to make it 175% bw.

  • Brett_nyc

    Body weight 215
    DL 325
    Bench 215>205>195>185>135
    CL 155
    52 min
Benches were a shit show, cluster focking, embarrassing disaster.
Got 10-8 at 215, then 7-6 at 205, then kept hitting failure on singles until I barely got 135 for 2-1. Mike K probably pulled a dozen reps off my chest. Deads and cleans were an afterthought, this was just a heavy bench day for me.

This gives reviews of both the Rogue and Pendlays shoes. They are pretty much the same except the Pendlays come in four colors and their leather exterior is more stable but requires a breaking in period.

  • brad s

39:40 (or something like that). abysmal. bodyweight >200#.
185# dl, ring pushups, 105# cl.

  • Jai

Reps as Rx’d, 92# deadlifts, ring push-ups from knees, 42# squat cleans. 28:25. The last time I did this workout, I used 92#, and used a 41# bar for floor presses and cleans, and it took me 35:36, so I shaved a lot of time off. Yay!

  • Grace

Could have gone heavier on the BP’s. Still need a lot of work on the DL’s. Thanks for the coaching, Jeff B!
