"Recently went touring in the back country of Whistler, BC. Skinning up mountain after mountain to reach these remote couloirs was a brutal ordeal but I kept going back to my WOD's and reminded myself how no matter how bad I feel during them the feeling of accomplishment once its over makes every ounce of pain and discomfort worth it. The views we took in and the descents we skied were my reward that day. In the end I PR'd in a way skiing the most challenging terrain of my life. Was it not for the mental and physical strength Crossfit has given me I would not have been able to see it through. I've had to get most of my work outs in at a gym across the street from my apartment lately due to time constraints but hope to be back to the Box soon."

A Quick Note on the Haiti Disaster

As everyone knows, the magnitude of the disaster in Haiti is nearly incomprehensible for those of us not directly involved. But one of our members has been directly involved, Kirk MacLeod (who just got his Level 1 in Montclair this weekend)-Security Adviser to the United Nations. For those of you who are unaware, the U.N. Consul in Haiti suffered heavy losses, including many, many close colleagues and friends of Kirk, including the man who hired him and his wife. It's easy to forget that there are people who are continually working in the worst of conditions to ensure that others might have the chance to experience the same level of relative peace and security that we enjoy here in the States and most of the developed world. Kirk hopes to be traveling to Haiti soon to help reestablish the infrastructure of the consul there, retrain personnel that have to be replaced due to the heavy casualties and help to restore a measure of basic civil security so everyone can have access to food and water.
Kirk has requested that if you wish to honor those who have passed in service and "remember their good works and dedication to the pursuit of peace", you can make a donation to one of the following organizations:

1. UNICEF
2. WFP
3. Doctors Without Borders
4. The Red Cross

All of these organizations have infrastructure and distribution in place and can get the majority of your donation to those who need it the most, especially the children.

Wall-ball, 20 pound ball, 10 ft target (Reps)
Sumo deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds (Reps)
Box Jump, 20" box (Reps)
Push-press, 75 pounds (Reps)
Row (Calories)

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute.The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. On call of "rotate", the athletes must move to next station immediately for best score. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.

Saturday 100116

With a continuously running clock, squat for 60 seconds. Subtract the number of squats completed from 60, and do that many pull-ups in minute two. In minute three, squat again, subtracting the number completed from 60. Do that number of push-ups in minute four. Minute five is squatting again, and minute six pull-ups.

The pattern is squats, pull-ups, squats, push-ups, squats, pull-ups, etc. The goal is to stay within the workout's formula for as long as possible.

Don't do more than 60 squats in any round.

In any case, stay moving for 12 minutes.

3:00 PM WOD with Sara

During the WOD's and/or Beginners Classes, members may quietly warmup and practice on the other side of the gym. The class in session will have priority for equipment, etc.

Skill of the day: Two Handed Turkish Get Up. Try 10 reps with the heaviest pair of kettlebells you can handle.

As Many Rounds as You Can in 20 minutes of:
5 Knees To Elbows

15 Kettlebell Swings

Men use 24kg, women use 16kg kettlebell.
