The return of “Lynne-ish”

Our Fight Gone Bad IV team is now 21 people strong and we have raised $3649 thus far! There’s still time to register to participate with us this Saturday, 9/26, for FGB4, the CrossFit community’s annual charity drive to support Athletes for a Cure and the Wounded Warrior Project. Remember, you can always sign up for FGB4, make a small donation to yourself, and then come participate on Saturday–there’s no minimum for how much money you raise and every dollar helps!
If you are unavailable to join in the fun on Saturday, please consider a donation. (When donating, type “crossfit nyc” as the team name then choose a member to donate to–preferably one who has yet to meet the $150 mark required to get the limited-edition FGB4 t-shirt.)

Congratulations to Craig (pictured below at this weekend’s Hybrid Challenge), who last night got half way to eventually deadlifting 1,000 pounds:

Congratulations to Staff Sargent Juan Gonzalez, United States Air Force on joining New York’s own 106th Rescue Wing.
I’ll see you at Kirtland Juan – I’ve already warned the base they have about a year to get ready for CrossFit.
Good luck this weekend – hope you’re all doing great!!

    .25 bodyweight

    Congrats Juan!

Got busy and forgot to post last night.
First, had a lot of fun at the Hybrid challenge on Saturday. The WODs were really challenging and the competition was good. Always fun to be around other Crossfitters.
    1×7 Deads:
    455, 465, 495(PR), 500(PR), 505(f), 505(f), 500(f)
Not sure I’ve ever been so tired after singles. The reason for the big jump was that I thought I had 475 on the bar. We were switching out plates & I just couldn’t do math.
This was one of my year-end goals, so I’m pretty pumped. Now I just need to get it again…

  • CAIN

    great work craig

  • Allison Bojarski

Congrats, Juan, on passing your PJ test!
You guys can see him getting sworn in here:

    Congrats Craig, awesome work!!!
Great CFE class last night as well as this morning.
Last night Mina, Lisa, Martin, Martin, Eric (owner of Crossfit Metropolis), Jim and Gabe all did an incrdible workout in central park last night.
This morning Anthony, James and Jeanine did an incredible job dodging people on the streets of New York.

  • Adam

    congrats, Juan

  • Keith W.

Sorry, the picture got moved. You can see Juan getting sworn in here:
Notice the Brooklyn Barbell Club t-shirt!
Also, after you guys do FGB on Saturday, please join us for our Grand Opening party out here in Wiliamsburg. Food and drink and entertainment. 221 N 8th St. 1 block from the Bedford L stop.

  • Keith W.

    BTW, nice deadlift Craig.

  • Lt Gabe

Damn Craig, welcome to the 500 club!
Juan when do you leave for training?
Got my shoulder checked out, no major tears, so I made up the Press, Push and Jerk WOD with a minor modification. 1 press, 2 push, 3 jerks. No PRs and even dropped a few lbs on the strict presses but the shoulder feels good for FGB this weekend.
    Press: 165,185(f),175,180,185(f)
    PP: 185,190,200,205,215
    PJ: 215(f),185,195,205,185

I gotta ask: Reagan– who are you? When/where do you train? And 200 for 200? Seriously?

  • Lisa

    Congratulations, Juan – well done!
Nice going Craig! I need to make up the deadlift WOD tomorrow so now I know what to aim for (ha ha) ;)

  • Reagan

Dan def, I live and train in north central Iowa. I only started posting because I read Hari’s (I think) post announcing the Black Box Challenge and thought it sounded fun. And since I’m probably slightly ADD, yes I’m 200,200 so far. No injuries, fingers crossed. Reading all your guys’ posts makes me feel like I know y’all. So there you have it. I’m seriously shooting for 274,274 or whatever a complete year is.

  • Mike Mishik

    Pull ups 18-15-15-9-9 (66)
    Squat 13-11-9-8-7 (48)
…had some wobbly knees on those squats

  • dan def

Reagan– thanks for the info. 200 for 200 is amazing work. Please come by and train with us soon– it would be great to meet you in person.

  • Kent B

    as Rx’d

  • Court

Congratulations Juan! As they say, outstanding work, you’ve been striving for it quite a while.
Nice job, Craig, Coach Rip no longer considers you a pussy…cat. ;-)
Hey Reagan, send us a photo and we’ll post it!

  • craig_cinci

Still can’t do BP, so I sub’d HSPU. Also, went at Brett’s weight for the squats (215#). Starting in round 1 this felt terrible.
    HSPU – 19, 14, 13, 12, 12
    PU – 32, 26, 20, 21, 23 = 122
    Squats – 21, 10 (lost my concentration), 15, 16, 16
For whatever reason, this workout makes me really close to Pukie.

  • kj

I did this. Wasn’t really feeling it.
Lost the details, but suffice to say I can bench press about 45% of my BW, I still can’t do a pull-up, and it’s been far too long since I’ve done a heavy back squat.

  • Brett_nyc

bwt 215lbs, up 10lbs since last time, yikes.
this wiped me out despite the obvious gaming of sets.

  • Sophie

    Congrats Juan!

  • Mike K

    Congrats Juan!
This was tough after the past 2 days, especially the bench and squats. But my back squat form was much improved today.
    All pullups strict.
    BW 195
    Bench: 13, 11, 8, 10, 9 Total 51
    Pullups: 12, 12, 9, 10, 9 Total 52
    Back Squat: 19, 15, 15, 14, 13 Total 76

  • Hari

    (11,29,20), (10,25,22), (9,20,21), (5,10,20), (6,17,20) = (41,101,103) = 245
    (68,54), (55, 42), (56, 43)

  • Elcorin

Thanks for article. Everytime like to read you.
