  • Commentary on today’s workout, courtesy of the CrossFit BrandX forums:
Everyone is a Big Dawg today. If you are unfamiliar with the movement, watch the video, start light and work technique.
In addition, do consider your footwear for this WOD, since it’s a weightlifting workout.
    Best choice is weightlifting shoes.
Next best choice is men’s-style dress shoes with a 1-inch heel and hard bottoms.
Third best choice is Chuck Taylors, in socks, or in Vibrams.
Sneakers are a BAD choice for barbell exercises (unless it’s a met-con WOD that you need to wear sneakers for to do the other component(s) of the workout).
Some articles on why weightlifting shoes are ideal and how to go about getting a pair (you can only order them online–stores do not carry them):

Does anyone have a fish oil recommendation?

I am a fan of Carlson’s Lemon Flavored Fish Oil. I also prefer liquid form, as I find it both cheaper and easier than popping 10 fish oil pills a day. A side note – don’t count your fish oil in your fat if you’re strict zone or zone /paleo.

    Yesterday –
    WOD 1:
    Ryan – Rx’d
Love the Rogue rings — didn’t think I would at first. MU’s as follows:
    4 / 3
    4 / 2 / 1
    3 / 2 / 2
    WOD 2:
Double Unders & Situps – Don’t have my card with breakdowns, but totals were
    308 / 170 — I think.

CFE in Central Park today at 6:30?

  • Hari

“A Florida doctor was forced out of his job running a local health department after posting signs critical of junk food and doughnuts.”
Actually, no. The doctor (a government paid employee) was forced out of his job after slandering the name of a company by posting a sign “America Dies On Dunkin.” The local government was legally liable for his actions, and was wise to fire this jerk.

  • Brian

Yes, CFE today Central Park meet at columbus circle near the coffee shack on the west side enterence @ 630p.
CFE tomorrow wedensday 645a @ black box.

  • kj

Brian – Guess what? I’ll be there tonight! Hooray!!

  • Lisa

Yeah kj, you are officially back to running? Great!

Many thanks to Dan Def for coming up with an alternate WO for me. Due to a shoulder/chest injury I am unable to do today’s WOD.
    Instead I did:
    AMRAP 12
    12 Ring rows
    12 Box jumps
    12 Kettle Bell DL’s
    4 Rd’s plus 12 and 12
Then worked on VERY SCALED and VERY SLOW
    12 Push ups(24 inch box)
8 Dead Hang Pull-ups (Green Band)
    8 Ring dips (blue band)
    3-ish rounds
Yeah, yeah, yeah! Felt good to move again.
    Thanks again Dan!

  • Tim

best thing about doing this workout for the first time ever, as Dan Def said, is you’re guaranteed a PR:

Martin, KJ, Jai, Adam and Martin did an awesome job with the CFE WOD tonight in central park.
    approx. 250m,500m,750m – 2 rounds with 1:1 workout:rest ratio.

  • Adam L

Great CFE tonight i still haven’t stopped sweating! is there anyone out there doing the nyc marathon that would be interested in doing tempo work on Thursday nights

  • Mike

    185, 205, 215, 225f, 225f, 220f, 220, 225f, 135×5
Nice job Brett & Rob! That is some serious weight.
then skill work on pistols – 4 sets of 5 each leg.
    (26, 25)

  • kj

Shower + AC on high and my temp is still slowly creeping down to normal.
I, too, am interested in CFE on Thursdays, tempo or not, but my legs simply cannot move as fast as Adam’s.
I will make up these push presses tomorrow morning. My building gym doesn’t have much weight to put on the bar, but luckily I can’t press much anyway, even when I put my hips into it.

  • 135-145-175-185-205-225f-215f

  • Hari

    140, 145, 150, 155, 160, 165 (PR), 170 (F)

  • Davi

Awesome work on the presses, people!
As for limbering – I am more than happy to aid in that process.
Let me know if you’re interested in any yoga classes. Good for more than just flexibility (read that article above!).

  • Jaicat

I’d be into CFE on Thursdays as well. Or on weekends. For any CFE, though, I’m most likely to join in if it’s in Manhattan. I hate the subway.
