Please note that those looking to help Jacinto celebrate his birthday, you'll want to head out to CrossFit South Brooklyn for the JacintoStorm WOD at 11am. His birthday party will follow in the afternoon at his house in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

Heads Up: It is likely that we will need to cancel all Manhattan 6:00 AM classes next week. Please stay tuned.

If you sometimes take the 6:00 AM class, please acknowledge that you have seen this comment and will continue to monitor the blog.

I really wanted to make it out to celebrate with Jacinto, but the need to be on a 12:11 train made that near impossible.

So I tested out the complimentary gym at my new building and did my own homage to Jacinto with what was available there.

Warm up: 800 meter run
For time:
70 squats
70 push-ups
70 sit-ups
70 med ball thrusters (Didn't want to risk getting suspended on day one by attempting wall ball. Too many mirrors everywhere.)
70 deadlifts w/ 75 pounds
20:23
Cool down: 800 meter run

As a bonus, I then did 70 burpees! I had 69 to make up from the past two days, and the final, horrid one was just to round things out.

Happy Fourth of July!

Jacinto storm

32:13 subbed 65# cleans

First WOD back from a break since Monday's total. Went light to ease back in, but this still sucked.

And happy 70, Jacinto! Looking forward to seeing you back at the box soon!

Nice job KJ! I'm sure Jacinto would approve of that WOD.

Did the Jacinto Storm in SBK. 31:46 rx'd

It was awesome to see so many people come out and push themselves through it, and even more amazing to see Jacinto do it himself. Truly inspiring.

Happy 4th everyone!

Last night, entered into a long discussion with Justin around 8:00 PM. Justin predicted a "Hero" WOD. I agreed. Justin went to the main page and ran through all the options. Justin rejected the possibility of "Murp" (too close to "Eva") I rejected the possibility of "Badger" (No way would we get 90 cleans after 75 snatches.)

Hari 0

Next, checked my logs. I'd skipped this the last (and first) time it came up. (I used to be much smarter.) Did some Hari analysis and concluded this would be a little worse than three rounds of "Eva." (It simply substitutes 95 lb cleans for 2 pood kettlebell swings.)

Checked my recent "Eva" time (59:27), with three rounds completed at around 34:00 minutes, and decided my goal would be 40 minutes.

Next checked the Black Box archives for previous times. Brett was 44:47, so clearly I had a great shot at beating Brett's last time. (Neglected to consider that Brett's "Grace" time is about 1/3 of mine or that his comment, "I am battered," might be worth nothing.

Decided that this would be simple: 5 minutes for cleans, 3 minutes for pull-ups, and 4 minutes for runs. 36 minutes total. Allowing for a reasonable margin of error, 40 minutes would be easy.

By the end of the first round, goal changed from 40:00 to 50:00. By the end of the second round, goal was simply to beat my "Eva" time. By the middle of the third round, goal was simply to finish.

Update on next week's schedule: Expect a normal schedule. The 6:00 AM class will NOT be canceled next week.

Happy Birthday Jacinto!!

Daniel - 16:26 - time to be made up on the runs and thrusters.
