Remember, Elements Workshops cost $300 (or $250 out at our Brooklyn location). You get a class size of no more than 6 students and very detailed, precise instruction over the course of 6 classes. Elements is a pre-requisite to becoming a member of CFNYC and it's our way of laying the proper foundation for all future members to understand how to properly execute the crossfit movements, from simple (e.g., air squat) to intermediate (e.g., wallball) to complex (e.g., barbell snatch). We also throw in 2 free weeks of membership upon completion of Elements so you can give us try and see what it's like to do the Workouts of the Day. Questions? Email us at infoATcrossfitnycDOTcom.

P.S.: Not ready to commit to Elements yet? Try one of our free beginners' classes:
Tues/Thurs 10am, Tues/Thurs 7:30pm, Sat/Sun 10am (in Manhattan).

Thank you so much for everyone's sweet birthday wishes yesterday, most especially those of you who specifically thanked me for what the blog gives you every day (both people I know well in person and people I've never met and may never meet). As much as I love coaching and teaching people, posting to this blog is still one of the major highlights of my day. I was lucky to inherit this blog from Keith, who did a great job of building our content and an audience to go along with it. We usually get 1500 hits a day from people all over the world. I just do my best to provide useful and interesting content for our readership and look forward to seeing it grow. So keep on reading, commenting, and sharing this site with friends who are interested in health, nutrition, fitness, and/or crossfit. Thank you.

If you've been thinking about Elements and you're one of those last-minute types, I've got good news. For the first time in a LONG time, we've got a few spots left in a workshop that starts in just 3 days from now! That's right, Elements #46, which meets M/W/F @ 8:30-9:30pm. Of course, if that particular date/time schema doesn't work for you, we've got plenty more where that came from. We've got classes that meet at 7:30pm or 8:30pm, or--get this--7AM! Yep, our very first morning Elements Workshop, #49, starts on April 21st but it only has 3 slots 2 slots left at this point. No time for Elements in April? Well we just added 2 new workshops in May: #51 (M/W/F @ 7:30pm) & #52 (Tue/Thur @ 8:30pm). So if you're thinking Elements is the thing for you, I'd suggest signing up pronto. (Oh, and don't forget we've got Elements out in Brooklyn, too, if that's your neck of the woods.) And a few reminders of what you get when you take an Elements Workshop with us, whether here or in Brooklyn:

1) 6 one-hour classes with no more than 5 fellow students
2) a lead instructor with an assistant instructor at every class
3) a structured course to teach and reinforce the foundational crossfit movements
4) 2 free weeks of unlimited WOD classes upon successful completion of the workshop

So what are you waiting for? Well, if you're not sure enough about CrossFit itself, I'd suggest you do one of our free beginners' classes. We've got 6 of those a week here in Manhattan (daytime, evening, weekday, and weekend times). Schedule's here. So sign up and get your butt down here!

Sunday 090405

Rest day on the main site. Justin teaches the 11am, noon, and 1pm WODs. In addition to allowing make-ups of the last 3 days' worth of WODs, he thought it'd be fun to try out a CrossFit Football WOD as our unique programming for the day:

"The CF Football Bear"
3 Total Rounds:
Complete the following cycle 7 times:
Power Clean
Thruster
Back Squat
Rack Jerk
After cycle is completed 7 times complete:
7 Pull Ups
Rest 3 minutes between sets
If the weight is dropped this constitutes a miss...coming off the bar during the pull ups constitutes a miss. Count number of total misses and complete that number in pull ups.
Post weight used and number of misses to comments.
