Muscle-up Monday

| | Comments (30)

Effective next Saturday, February 7, we will add a second (12:00 Noon) WOD on both Saturday and Sunday.

Effective one week from Monday, February 9, we will eliminate the 7:30 PM WOD and add both 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM WOD's, making the evening WOD's at 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, and 8:00.

We are considering adding additional morning and/or afternoon classes. Two questions:

1) If you attend or are likely to attend weekday morning classes, which of the following would you prefer:

(a) 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM
(b) 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM
(c) 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

2) If you attend or are likely to attend weekday lunch classes, which would you prefer:

(a) 12:30 and 1:30
(b) 12:00 and 1:00

Post time to comments.

If you cannot do the muscle-ups do 120 pull-ups and 120 dips.

Compare to 080926.

SCALING OPTIONS courtesy of CrossFit Brand X forums:

Big Dawgs:
As Rx’d
If you cannot do a muscle up use a 5/1 ratio.
150 pull ups 150 dips
or
3/1 ratio seated muscle ups
90 seated muscle ups

Yes I have scaled up here. If you have been CrossFitting for awhile you should be able to do a muscle up, it is not even a rated gymnastics move, it is simply the way a ringman gets up on top of the rings to START his routine.

The Porch:
As Rx’d
If you cannot do a muscle up use a 4/1 ratio.
120 pull ups 120 dips
or
2/1 ratio seated muscle ups
60 seated muscle ups

Pack:
For time:
15 Muscle-ups
If you cannot do the muscle-ups do 60 pull-ups and 60 dips 0r 30 Jumping muscle ups and 30 pull ups and 30 dips.

Puppies:
For time:
10 Muscle-ups
If you cannot do the muscle-ups do 40 jumping pull-ups and 40 bench dips or 20 squat muscle ups.

I would prefer 7AM and 8AM morning options with 12PM and 1PM afternoon options. I would be most likely to attend 8AM or 12PM classes.

1) If you attend or are likely to attend weekday morning classes, which of the following would prefer:

(b) 6:30 AM and 7:30 AM

Thanks!

Muscle-what now? Did the 120 pullups and dips w/ 80# assist in 18:10 (22,9)

I'd prefer a 12 and 1pm option at lunch.

oh and a 7 and 8am option in the morning.

TONIGHT:

All you can eat BBQ at Hill Country for $25. All you can eat sides for an extra $2. Post or email me if you're attending so I can make the reservation. We'll walk over from the box after the 7:30 WOD finishes up!!

I'm in for Hill Country.

AHHHHH!!! Did Hill Country plan to have this special while I was away at college? GRR... I want all I can eat brisket tonight... and every Monday night this month.

c)7am and 8am
&
b)12pm and 1pm

I love Hill Country, but I don't know if I can handle it after last night's debauchery. I made the bacon explosion...

First day at the 'new job' here today. Am not sure what time I'll finish up, but if I can get away in time, I'll definitely be in for Hill Country...

30 MU

Morning
(c) 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.
or, to be difficult, 7:30 AM is better than both of the above, anything before 7 is crazy early.

Lunch
(a) 12:30 and 1:30, or 1p.
Noon is early.

In for the BBQ.

You guys might have to wait for my pansy ass to shower!

7:30am please!

I can do some BBQ. Given all the various class times when is everyone thinking the grubbing will be going down?

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this before, but if not...

Looks like Hill Country is full of surprises.

So here is the list for Hill Country I have as of 1430:

1. Tony
2. Kevin
3. Gave
4. Craig
5. Craig's +1
6. Moon
7. Brian K.
8. Hari (I assume?)
9. Tripp

Maybe\Probably

1. Zach

Looks like I'll be making the reservation for 10 people, but I'm sure slightly more or less will be accommodated. As for time, I'd say 8:30 p.m. should give the 7:30 p.m. WOD time to finish and get cleaned up. How does that sound? I'll wait till 5:00 p.m. or so to make the call.

Sure, I'm in. Thanks, Tripp.

Just confirmed, I'll be out in plenty of time. See you all at the gym and Hill Country.

sub 60 Jumping Muscle-ups

(19, 8)

worst workout in a while.

my pr is 14 something.

after 15 MU and about nine minutes, i just lost all focus and strength. at 15 minutes and still stuck on my 15th MU, I switched to jumping MUs and did a quick 30

18:56

terrible - i need a day off.

5:46 - first WOD in a week.

7:30

jim that is awesome!!! was wondering where u have been

Ring dips and pull-ups with a band. 120 of each.

26:22

(21,8)

5:06
- but I think, I did 33
- did triples, except the last 3, which were a double and a single
- if I did 33, then it took me 4:41 to do the last 30
- for the first 30, I can only approximate that it was around 4.5 minutes

4:55 (PR by 1 sec) - a couple were a little dubious in terms of lockout at the bottom

I would join the gym if there were an even earlier, say 5:30 am, session. If there is demand would the instructors be willing to run this?
