Oy what a terrible session.

Most successful sets were with 90-95kg. I couldn't even clean 100-110kg! I need to fix the bar crashing down on me. For the sake of my ego I loaded 120kg on the bar and jerked that successfully two times.

I know we've never met, but I saw your post expressing interest in the Winter Challenge and was curious to talk to you about it a little bit more. Deadline is tomorrow, so we have to organize quickly if people want to do it.

If you don't mind, please get in touch with me to discuss more. Or reply here and let me know something more. Just figured email / phone would be faster than blog.

Thanks,

Zach

Front Squat

Also, now that we have the room for it. I think we should get one of these for the new box.

I'm in for the Challenge if we have a team!

Who's organizing?

Just as a heads up, I corresponded with Craig at Crossfit Hoboken and CFNYC can only submit one team, so having a team from BBB and Manhattan is off-limits, in case some people thought that was an option on the table.

He said that in the future he will invite two (and he hadn't realized that there was CFNYC with BBB and Manhattan as well as SBK).

Anyway, I have been corresponding with some Manhattan people who were interested, and I think the original assumption was that we could take two teams. I spoke to Brian D and he is interested (he also posted on the board here a few days ago about it).

I have been talking to a few people who are interested and have posted in the past, but I think there's been some confusion over lack of organization.

I'm definitely interested, and have personally spoken to Dave Bell, Craig Chaikin and Brian DeGenarro about it as well, and they're interested.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to sort this whole thing out. Let me know what people think, and if you are sure you can be in town for it. I know scheduling can be tough around the holidays, but we have to have the team registered by tomorrow, so if you can be sure that you'll be in town and available that afternoon / evening, please do so to ensure that 6 people get registered who will definitely be available.

Just trying to get this thing organized since the deadline is upon us.

So from this thread alone we have:

Zach
Dave Bell
Craig Chaikin
Brian D.
Tripp

Does anyone know if another team has been organized? Allison? Court? Josh?

I will be at the 7:00 p.m. WOD, but if anyone wants to get in touch with me (I'm a lot less busy than Zach), here is my info:

I'm willing to compete. I know that others are interested as well, so keep me in mind.

My strengths include wall ball, rowing and double unders.

By the way, in case my qualifications to represent CFNYC are in question, please consider my CV:

Should have mentioned in my original post.

I've emailed and spoken with Jeff too (sorry to leave you out buddy. Busy day here at work... Couldn't have really helped to add that to your 'not feeling the love' of Katie's blod).

Anyway, I think Juan and Kevin P have also expressed some interest. Juan, are you going to be in town for that?

Also, I spoke with Dave bell and it doesn't look like he'd be able to make it that day due to family activities.

Back to work here, but I'll continue to monitor the blog as I'm able.

115, 125, 135, 145, 155(f), 155, 165 (PR by 30#!)

135, 155, 165, 175, 185, 195, 200(f)

It was my first time doing split jerks, and I haven't done a lot of olympic lifting in general. Form wasn't pretty on much, but I enjoyed the workout.

Had a chance to do the AMRAP WOD from yesterday first before leaving work. It really sucks doing that kind of workout in a windowless basement all by yourself. I subbed ring pushups with those pushup grip discs that rotate, not sure if that made a difference. I completed 7 rounds + 15, 15, 15, 5.

The Challenge Update:

I talked to Court and Hari, neither of whom can make the event. Zach would know better than I whether or not we need a trainer, but I think it would be really great if someone can make it - I'd go as a spectator if one of the trainers needs a spot. Same goes if someone with more experience and\or better numbers wants to go - I just think it sounds like a great event and hope that CrossFit NYC can be represented!

worker out at Crossfit Hamton Roads today

Jeremy at CFHR is a big fan of the Black Box.
They got a pretty cool space down here in VA.
Jeff, he says your awesome.

if you need another member I'm down. If you want me.

I'm down to join your team. If you still want me

Topped out at 175, not locking out my jerks like I want to.

185
185
205
205
225 F
225 missed the jerk
225
227
227 really nice. New PR by 2 lbs.

thanks Adam.

yeah zach im back the 19th. Im in for this but im looking to get in the BK Black Box team.

Was able to hit 225 today but it hurt the hell out of my wrist... Was also able to hit a 255 rack jerk afterwards.

115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145

ok apparently there's only one Black Box team. I'll go as a spectator then.

Anytime Brett. Next time we're getting you up to 229. That's 104 kg. It sounds a bit more impressive that way doesn't it?

Just heard back from Donald from CFHbkn, they're discouraging spectators as gym space is limited and they're going to be pretty crowded with competitors alone. I would contact them if you have any further questions about the event. Should be a lot of fun regardless.

Lower abs (?) are still hurting from the 400m/GHD/DL WOD, must have strained something. So, no sit-ups for me.

Did some 2x100lb dumbbell deadlifts and 1-leg dl's, and some farmer's (very short) walks.
Then:
ARMAP in 10 minutes - 5 dead hangish pullups, 10 push-ups, 15 KB swings each arm (1 pood).
->6 rounds

Well, today is the day to email Craig at Hoboken and confirm our place at their little throw-down.

Here is what I have as far as member interest is concerned at the moment.

- Craig Chaikin
- Jeff Yan
- Brian DeGennaro
- Kevin Prowse
- Myself
- Tripp - "I'd go as a spectator* if one of the trainers needs a spot. Same goes if someone with more experience and\or better numbers wants to go"
- Juan - Interested but thought a BBB team was going. Also volunteered to go as spectator*

As far as I know, this is the extent of interested people who will be in town and available. If I've missed you on this list, please let me know. Also notice that we currently have 7 people listed as being interested, but two are willing to stand down, so to speak, for a trainer to go or another member -- Coach P, Josh, any interest?

Again, if you're interested please post here as soon as possible today. Thanks for all the interest and help with this guys. Should be a great showing and a lot of fun, whatever happens.

*From David Osorio's post, note that spectatorship is discouraged, unfortunately, as they are a little worried about space limitations at the facility. My assumption is that a few would be fine, but we can't take a whole herd of onlookers.
