Hope this email finds all of your affiliates doing well. Over at CrossFit Hoboken, we think it's time for some friendly competition. We will be holding an Event on Dec 20th at CrossFit Hoboken. We would like to invite all of you to field a team of 6 competitors and join us. It will allow all of us to finally meet in one place and discuss best practices and other things that will lead to our further success. December 20th is a key date because it is the same day as our holiday party. The party will consist of and open bar and buffet. We have ordered massive amounts of food however, there is a $30 cover to pay for the bar. All competitors that choose to attend may bring 1 guest. Each team is only allowed 2 trainers (as participants) the rest must be made up of members of your respective gyms. Please RSVP. Thank you.

CrossFit/Brand X recommendations for how to scale this WOD (along with some commentary on how to approach this workout):

CrossFit rarely asks for maxes. This workout does and expects that there is no “gaming” the workout. At Brand X I tell people I want to see you falling off the pull up bar. People whose score looks like

are going for a number and not a max. Test your limits today.

Big Dawgs:
As Rxd

Pack:
Scale the weight on the bench press. Use a weight that you can get at least 6-8 reps with.
or
do as Rx’d and dial back the rounds to 3.

Puppies:
do 5 rounds of
max push ups
max pull ups or beginner pull ups

Buttercups:
Do 3 rounds:
max push ups
max pull ups or beginner pull ups

Subs for Bench press:
dumbbells, push ups, elevated push ups
Subs for Pull ups:
Assisted Pull ups, Beginner Pull ups, Ring Pull ups, Ring Rows

*Jumping Pull ups should be subbed with caution as high numbers of these have been associated with rhabdomyalisis.

This was unexpectedly brutal... It felt like my head was going to explode doing the Bench presses. Unbelievable.
I didn't feel like I was going to puke, but I had a great urge to lay down on the floor...

Did a CFE Pacing WoD last night at the office:
3 rounds of:
1 min max effort, 1 min rest x3
Since it is a stair WoD, I modified the break between rounds to be my descent to the bottom. Next round starts immediately upon reaching the ground floor.

After the first round, record your distance. If you miss this on rounds 2 and 3, you foul. Each foul is 50 air squats done 2 minutes after the workout.

Round breakdown: 25.5 stories, 26.5, 27
Did my 100 air squats on the last descent. Fouls suck. Have to go harder on the first round, was too conservative.

My grip was death -- felt like I'd fall right off going for any more C2B.

Went to failure in nearly every round, to the point of pullups until I fell off the bar. The only round this didn't hold true was round 4 of pullups. I let myself come off the bar too easy -- was able to dig deep and push more in the 5th because of it; I needed vindication; I needed complete failure.

Lynne could definitely become a favorite of mine.
