"I wish I had time for a trainer."
Tru dat.
they need to make a barbell version that makes you do Grace
http://www.worldwidefred.com/shapeup.htm
Wow...that is incredibly hilarious, pitiful and depressing all at the same time. Hehe, yeah, if Grace doesn't wake you up you're screwed for sure
In that case how about a chest-to-bar pull up version? Or maybe even one that requires you to run 800m to hit snooze?
Topped out at 305, grip failing, back tense. Not a good morning.
So, how many reps should Josh be doing today?
that article from losing to lifting was written for me. thanks ALlison--awesome call. gonna link it to my blog!
And a very Happy Birthday to one tough DLer: Josh Newman!! Happy Birthday Josh and thanks for all you have done to make the Black Box so very black:-)
Happy birthday, old man!
Happy birthday Josh!

happy birthday, jive turkey.

Happy Birthday Josh!
My birthday was in the 13th, so Happy Birthday to me too.
Happy birthday Brett!
Happy Birthday Brett and Josh!
I have to say I'm sick of HSPUs. I really wasn't ready to do the the HSPU L Pull-up workout again so soon. Two days between the same workout isn't enough for me.
But I love working on my snatch so thanks Mike!
Happy birthday guys! Josh I must say you sealed the deal for me to try crossfit when Tyler was telling me to come and i was too chicken.
I looked at your picture and said-hey if this short jewish guy with glasses who went to yale can do it then certainly I can do it. SI am from the same lousy athletic gene pool.
well you certainly kicked my butt. But am certainly glad I was duped !
had I seen Brett's picture however I would absolutely have been too scared to show up.
Tyler-likely inspired by Coach P's snatch posting had me do 10 reps of overhead squats-45, 50, 55, 60, 65 (UGLY) the 3 rounds for time
10 pullups
5 dumbell snatches each arm (20lb?)
15 squats
6 something.
all at midcity
hey maybe we can sell some of those pink t shirts at mid city??
happy birtday josh and brett
hey Iam waiting for you guys to catch up
to my age.Come on stay strong.
Happy Birthday, Josh!
Happy Birthday, Brett!
Happy Birthday, Josh and Brett!
Today's WOD at the midday class: 95, 135, 155, 175, 185, 135
I wasn't sure where to start since I haven't done deadlifts in a long time, so I just worked my way up. 185 for 5 reps is the most I've ever done and felt I could have done more if I started higher in weight.
Allison pointed out the infrequency of this rep scheme during class, which I found interesting considering all the people who do Starting Strength and CF at the same time.
After looking back at the workout logs a 7x1 or 7x3 Deadlift WOD has been much more common. Is there a reason for this or does this fall into the randomness of the workouts category?
Then did some light OHS and kb work to work on shoulder stabilization afterwards.
Happy Birthday Brett!!
Michelle, I hear ya on the gene pool and how we were duped by Josh the "Ant"
The reason for the infrequency for this particular set/rep scheme is the fact that heavy deads really kill the CNS. In fact in Starting Strength you only do 1X5 on the deads, and you only do that once a week. The guys at Westside Barbell rarely do heavy deadlifts either. They are such a potent and powerful lift that a little bit goes along way, and you will fry yourself if you do too many of them.
First ever WOD. Allow me a w00t.
225, 245, 295, 315, 345
God bless chalk, and have a good night.
