Doug, Katie, Audrey, Moon, Sarena, Paul S., Hari, Alex, Brian, George, Tom M., Brendan, Justin, Leslie, Josh R., and Gavin--thanks for helping the move go so well.
Mike, Josh, and I could not have done it without your hard work, patience, and strength. It sure was nice to put all that training we've done over the past year to a good purpose.
Tomorrow we will be setting up at our temporary Long Island City location which is just 2 blocks from the Vernon-Jackson station (the first stop the 7 makes in Queens, just 3 minutes via subway from Grand Central). So no classes tomorrow and check here on the blog for updates. I haven't been able to extract the exact address yet from Josh (details, details) but as soon as I do I'll make sure it gets posted here or in the comments.
Thanks to all of our members for your patience and good will through this challenging time. We appreciate your support!

awesome to see so many "old" and new faces! Glad to be of help! Best of luck with the new spaces...long term and temp!
Will I need to bring any sort of vaccination record along with my passport/visa to go to this "Long Island City" place?
Are there any more "after" pictures of the former Box? I want to know how the floor looks.
moon i had no idea LIC was not even in LI. so i will need whatever shots u need updated-maybe a double dose.
Sorry could not be there to help out. Was headed to NJ for the marathon. 3:38 on a nice flat course under near perfect conditions. Will be back at the Box more now that this is out of the way.
Jeff, the floor looked more like mosaic than tiles.
And even more important, LIC/Astoria is the home of the famous Jack Bauer as well as myself and Leslie. No shots needed!!! Or actually maybe that's our problem??
Anyone need a fairly new window unit air conditioner or a temporary wardrobe (http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&SKU=14020519)?
For Xfit NYC members I'm offering both for a discounted price of $0.
Paul - my girlfriend is actually looking for a temporary wardrobe. E-mail me and we'll arrange a pick-up time. Thanks!
Guess you'll need my e-mail address: cpaniewski@gmail.com
ok so what time are the night time classes going to be and is anyone who lives in manhattan going to be going bc i am chicken shit to take the subway back late alone. in spite of the cocktail back.
was pickpocked (pickpocketbooketed) once on subway-demanded that "per" give my wallet back-told him i knew he passed it off to his female friend,
Iwas holding train door open so i could settle it and get some help-
people on the train were PUSHIMG ME (nice) and i said to "perp" ok well if you didnt take my wallet then lets settle this outisde on the platform! (what?)
so we both left - doors closed-and guy literally spiderman jumped onto the outside of the car.
there i was with my beat up legs standing there screaming "this is why Kitty Genovese was killed!"probably that last part was a wasted effort.
Michelle, don't know if you checked out any of the LIC-related links that I posted today, but believe me Long Island City is not a scary place in the least. Plus, I'm sure you'd have no trouble finding someone to accompany you to the subway as the vast majority of our members would be taking the 7 train back towards Manhattan.
I went out to LIC today to take a look around and try to spot our new space (without the exact address I wasn't sure which garage-door space was ours) and everywhere I looked I saw French bistros and luxury condos. LIC is super close to midtown and not dangerous. There's lots of yuppies living out there, believe me.
Michelle,
I'll be going to the evening classes and would feel much more comfortable if you were to accompany me on the way home after a WOD.
Thanks,
Rob
LIC is not that bad anymore. 10-15 years ago was a different story, but that is true for a good portion of NY. Technically, it is on Long Island, just like Brooklyn and Queens are technically part of the City.
As a bonus, LIC also sports NYC's only indoor paintball place and one that is not too expensive.
I do, however, take offense that the Box moves to Queens a week after I move from Queens to Brooklyn! Getting home from there would be a pain, but will try to make it out at some point.
Kurt, sorry to hear you don't like our evil plan to lengthen your commute home from the Box. ;)
Seriously, though, might you be able to take the G train back to Brooklyn directly? That's not far from our new temp space, though I don't know if the G goes to your part of Brooklyn...
Allison-thx! no i wasnt suggesting that LIC was dangerous-its the subways alone late at night that I don't like-anywhere-i take a cab home fromthe box at night as well
the incident that happened to me was the 50th street station on the 1 and the 9-not a "dangerous" area at all.
rob- as soon as i dig out my owl girl costume i will be ready to roll.
i like how the french bistro is used as a marker for whether a neighborhood is safe or not. :)
Any news on whether there will be a 7AM class tomorrow?
Is there any more moving help needed ? I've been out of town, I just got back and I'd like to pitch in anyway I can. So if stuff needs moving to LIC or anywhere please let me know. Jblaire25@yahoo.com
Joe, yes, any/all help is appreciated. I just emailed you, but to anyone else who would like to pitch in, drop me a line at allison AT crossfitnyc DOT com with your phone number so that I can give you a call (most likely tomorrow) to let you know when we need your help. (I've already got Brendan G. and Audrey volunteering to help along with Joe B. now.)
Thanks, everybody. You all rock.
