This is all very strange. Have no fear, it will be resolved soon enough. Keep on truckin'!
I hate computers.
I just read this "fact" from the American Heart Association, "You can gain as much as two hours of life expectancy for each hour of regular, vigorous exercise. Join a Start! walking team today!"
That means if you do:
20 Frans
20 Dianes
12 Karens
6 Helens
6 Elizabeths
4 Fight Gone Bads
3 Cindys
3 Marys
2 Filthy Fiftys
1 Murph
1 10k run
1 Barbara
You will live an extra day longer. Get started!
I liked the manual labor article. I owned a commercial painting business from age 20-27. I did new building and home const., restoration work, demolition.. all kinds of shit. I have roofed, drywalled and ate out of a lunch box for years. Think Crossfit calluses are bad, try stripping shingles once. Want a "full body workout" try putting up a 40ft. ladder yourself, and then immediately put up scaffolding right next to it, for time...(everyday in that business is for time...) You want gymnastic skills; crawl around on a slate roof, 50ft. up in august, just to repair some stupid 100yr. old attic window. Somehow I came out fairly unscathed, never fell off a ladder. Slicing my hand open was a regular occurrence tho.
Even though it paid the bills, every night after working was complete exhaustion. Somehow I managed to stay awake at night school :)
I'm fairly certain that if I did 20 Frans my life expectancy would be severly diminished.

dunno what my last one was. My hip hurts again. Looks like squats are the culprit.
Hey guys... My one year CrossFit anniversary is coming up on May 2nd. I found the book where I wrote my first few CrossFit workouts at the Box.
The first one was
21 DLs with like 30#
30 KTE
15 DL
20 KTE
10 KTE
The third time I was there we must have done HPC because I scribble down "MASTERED the clean". hahah! I didn't even know how much I didn't know.
My clean still needs a ton of work after a year of training it. But at least I know that now. CrossFit has humbled me.. a little.

Hey everyone. I'm looking for Cross Fitter's in Queens to workout with. If you know of anyone in and around Queens (Astoria) please pass along my information:

Thanks.
A2 - Congratz on your upcoming BoxBirthday! CrossFit humbles us all.
You should celebrate the event at the upcoming annual Swingaring party! If I remember correctly, you, Keith and others did fantastic last year. Meanwhile I had a grip strength/bodyweight ratio that allowed for some sandy wipeouts while still on the first ring.

Moon: That would be a great idea. That day with you guys was one of the many things that got me hooked on CrossFit. You guys were so welcoming and made me feel like part of your group.
But... I won't be here. I'm moving to California on the 1st.
That's my one year anniversary gift to myself.
Hey A2, where you moving to? I grew up in San Francisco.
Happy Crossfit Birthday A2!
Brett, I'm going to San Diego. Lots and lots of CrossFit gyms there. :) and lots of certs.
Thanks Robzilla but it's the 2nd!
245x5... Hips were still a little tight from the B-Day workout, and the wonderful back soreness rears its ugly head again.
P$, There are a few of us Queens Crossfitters at the box. Myself and Leslie are in Astoria, Greg is in LIC, both Kevin's (one in Woodside I think, the other in Astoria). Leslie and I go up to Astoria Park and to the Astoria Heights playground when the weather is nice from time to time. I have actually met a few crossfitters there, but have yet to convince them to come into the box.
Shit, that was 245X5X5 (sets across)...
thanks for ur help 2nite justin-

It was great to see Michelle, Avery and Erica bully the boys off the third bar! You girls did a great job.
Fight gone bad was just as i remembered it. Painful and sick, but i loved it. Everyone put in a monster effort tonight.
165, 175, 185, 195, 205
5x5 Back Squats are definitely not my favorite workout either. I felt strong during the lifts, but it was not a max effort.
I still feel like I need to work on my form before adding more weight to the bar, especially engaging my hamstrings and backside even more.
95, 115, 120, 125, 135
Did these at my fiancee's parent's house in Boston, with her brother's weight set.
That topped out at 135#, so:
135# x 5 x 5
Had to clean and press to back each set, however, so a pretty good workout.
185 (definitely too low of a start)

Thanks to Coach P, Justin and Paul for all the tips, help.
Great work was seen in the Elements class for their first Fight Gone Bad.
Justin thanks for responding. I'd love to meet up at the track sometime for weekend workout. I'm down there a lot. I'm about 1 mile away. email me.
I'd love to coordinate something on the weekend.

Definitely rushed this workout in an effort to get home so I could go to my new apartment and put up masking tape for time.
Back squats- 95, 115, 145, 165, 175
Since my prior 1RM is a shaky 185, I have definitely gotten stronger and my form is a little better, I still have issues. Looks like I need to actually follow through on my plans to practice low weight/high rep back squats.
Moon, nice job!
