Back to the box tomorrow after my brush with death on Saturday, to walk back into another one... That will be me, smiling on the inside!

anyone having trouble now bringing up the main site, www.crossfit.com or just crossfit.com? doesnt seem to be working correctly.

OH MY GOODNESS. I can't believe my eyes.

MY BACK.

I have a serious fear that when I try to swing that KB that I'm going to flying on my face. If I can pick it up...
And Back Extensions??!

I'm still shaking. Mostly in my back and abs but my legs a little too.

CRUEL WORLD. I LOVE Greg and Lauren but I don't LIKE them much right now ;)

hah haaaah! i'll see you suckers on wednesday.

nm.. firefox strikes once again

1 pood swings?!? Christmas came early!

What exactly is happening in the photo?

@Brett- I don't know, but I like it.

That's Holly, one of Tyler's clients. She does AcroYoga and is great at anything that involves being upside down.

@Juan- hmmmm, what would greg do?

I have to say, though, I really like the tactical trunk monkey patch.

Nice one Juan. I think Greg got that tattoo a few years ago right around when he got his Black Box one. Of course that was way before he got that Zombie Fitness back piece.
- Signed Moon, from the year 2011.

Oh My. I thought I would be better in the morning and I'd be sort of ready for the 50. I'll probably post a lot today since I'm pretty much stuck in bed. I would pay 3,000 for a muscle relaxer right now.

I'm wrecked. I can't walk without leaning back. If I don't lean back I fall forward.

Holli is so entertaining to watch. Those handstands are the stuff. She's really sweet and she's so consistant when she does her workouts. Every rep looked the same and she stayed at the same pace the whole time.

See now I got to break out my "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Double Under Jimmy Super Snucka Flying Jump Kick" -*(which will be expertly photoshopped by the team of Brett and Tippy)

Damn you Moon! Why did you mention the back tattoo? Justin and I wanted it to be a surprise!

Girls:
I'm watching Tyra right now and todays show is about boobs and sports bras.
Tune in and get some tips.

I love Tyra.

WWJBD?

Swiss chocolate at the box! Enjoy! Get em while they're there!!

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone here could recommend an adult (beginner) swimming class in the city. The ones at the local YMCAs seemed interesting, but it looks like I just missed registration for the current 8-week courses. Anyone have experience with any other programs?

I don't need anything fancy...just enough to swim laps and not sink like a bag of rocks.

Thanks in advance,
Yoon

Better get there fast! Chocolate is a great post WO snack or as Keith so eloquently said:

Damn you these chocolates are good! Thanks! Never do it again!

Front squat, back squat, overhead squat.....

And now....

Asian Squat : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWTmg4dHiKg

I guess I've always had a problem with squatting becuase I was just too white. It's getting added to the list...

Dance
Jump
*Squat*

At this rate my workouts are going to look like

AMRAP in 20 minutes:
Air Guitar

i am house/cat sitting for a friend of mine in glorious hell's kitchen, and yesterday i felt like absoulte k-rap so i spent the whole day in bed watching movies with my best friend. i think i am taking a sort of mini-vacation. getting my head back on straight.

it's only 1:30 and it looks like it is sundown outside. good thing i don't have anything to do today :)

Does anybody have a copy of Starting Strength (1st edition) that I can thumb through?

Thanks,
Rob

44:25.. first time for this wod, and first time I actually completed DU's in a WOD.

Rob: I have a signed 2nd edition so You can have my 1st edition.

I have practical programing if you want to borrow that too

Thanks AllisonNYC,

Both the 1st edition and practical programming would be really helpful

45:26

This was my second time with the fifty and I'm happy to report that I shaved 10 minutes off my score. I think I spent more time on KTEs and Burpees than everything else combined, though.

Rob - what are the differences between the editions?

Great work, Martin! Was it Rx'd?

I agree that the KTEs and Burpees look like the slump spot, but I also suck at double unders (hell, I am just learning singles) so I am not relishing the idea of tuck jumps at the end.

Regardless, I am definitely looking forward to this, as it was one of the first Crossfit workouts that I was actually able to complete (most of) at my local gym. I think I barely broke an hour last time. Let's see what I can do now.

Moon,

I won't be sure until I can thumb through the 1st edition but I think SS 1st ed. is more geared towards coaching and programming for an athlete.
SS 2nd ed is more geared towards the slow barbell lifts and explaining them to great detail.
Practical Programming is going to be a surprise for me, but I can infer from the title what it's going to be about...WAFFLES!

Moon, Rob - nope.

Both editions cover the Back Squat, Press, Bench Press, Deadlift and Power Clean.

The second edition has more details, information and pictures than the first.

I'll bring both.

The Barbell Cert is straight out of the book with Mark Rippetoe and Lon Kilgore. It was one of my favorite certs.

Kurt-

It was ugly, but it was as Rx'd. Good luck!

Will there be a group of folks doing a scaled version at the box ? This pack version from BrandX looks about right for me,For time:
35 Box jump, 18-20 inch box
35 Jumping pull-ups
35 Kettlebell swings, 1 pood
Walking Lunge, 35 steps
35 Ab-Mat Sit-ups
35 Push press, 45 pounds
35 Back extensions
35 Wall ball shots, 14-20 pound ball
35 Burpees
35 Standard Jump Rope Jumps

Attn coaches - can our next set of barbells be iPod compatible?

Nike + iPod to Jack Directly Into Gym Equipment

Please notice - that's "jack" and not "jelq", people. Remember, Keith just mopped that floor last week.

Actually you can see Holly doing her thing here

25:08 (with 20 tuck jumps+30 Doubleunders at the end)

Nice work Brendan.

30:49

took out the burpees. Just couldn't do them. my back was and is totally wrecked. I can't believe I did the swings and GHD bk ext. added an extra 50 double unders to sort of make up for it

20" box
16 kg swings
45# PP
100 double unders

first time I linked more than 2 DUs. Got more than 15 in a row!

I'm in big rouble in the back department.

THANKS MARGIE for sticking with me, counting and for your encouragement. You really care

46:10 (PR) Sub DU Attemps

46:10 (PR) Sub DU Attemps

46:10 (PR) Sub DU Attemps

27:11

sub:
50 v-ups for KTE
50 10# thrusters for wall ball
50 tuck jumps for burpees
50 tuck jumps for DU
everything else with right arm only

My back is all effed up from yesterday's DL's as well. I thought I'd go for 35 of everything, but Kevin talked me into going for 50. After 50 box Jumps and my back bothering me I settled on 35-40. got up to Wall-Ball and my back was not allowing me to do anything else, I tried burpees wan't happening. It may have looked like I quit, but once my lower back flares up I'm done. I don't want to make it any worse.

35:19. Subbed 14lb wall-balls for 40 of the 50 reps(did full 20lb for the last 10). Also, subbed 150 singles for the double-unders.

Ok, ready for the greatest food blog EVER? I present to you:

http://groceryeats.com/

Luther Burgers, Kool-aid pickles, Durian fruit. This guys tried everything.

34:42 w/ first 30 back extensions as 45# good mornings then the last 20 on the ghd. Chest and coughing slowed me down and still an issue due to last week, but much better than Saturday.

30:39 or 30:49? Can't remember. Subbed 14# med ball, 45# good mornings because GHD was being used, and knee burpees because back was getting a bit sore after the first few regular ones. Tried to do them with perfect form.

I didn't think my light "Linda" would have had that bad of an after effect because I felt fine most of today, but I was dying during the workout.

wow awesome job guys.

moon, jack-i need a tat

It was super inspiring to watch you guys work it out tonight. There were no quitters, that's for damned sure. Brendan's speed and Jack Bauer's determination and Erica's cajones... y'all rock.

AllisonNYC, you are a workhorse - it's great to see you in action and to have the opportunity to encourage you as much as you do me. But for god's sake woman take care of yourself!!

33:11, Sub-tuck jumps for DUs. This is a PR by about 22 minutes, but still slower than the girl doing the one handed jumping pull-ups.

Good job people, lots of PRs tonight and lots of encouragement. I certainly needed it (and got it) during the burpees as I was woozy and light-headed.

Hey everyone, I am a skinny, 17 year-old kid really trying to get into great shape before i leave for college later this year. Are 17 year-olds allowed to workout at the Black Box? Its the only crossfit place anywhere near where i live.

First time I did this WOD I threw up between the burpees and wall balls and finished in 44 min.

Today, no vomiting and PR 26:45! Shoulder was iffy on the KTEs.

Thanks Brendan for getting me through the burpees. You looked 'glorious" as I was drowning in burpees. A shoutout to you cuz- http://youtube.com/watch?v=B1q7ZAU1BHk

Michelle tattoo-get a KB with "Step off Biyatch" on the back of your neck. Sends a strong message.

39:05 for my second WOD with pretty sad Knee to Elbows that quickly devolved into Knee to chest and worst... Otherwise subbed 150 Jump ropes for the double-unders and nearly went into a burpee induced coma.

The Grocery Eats blog is awesome. I can't say I've had one - yet - but the Luther Burger looks delicious and I haven't had Fried Oreos or Fried Cheese curds (on a stick) since I went to the Minnesota state fair one year...I guess a 'Bring your own stuff to fry' is the MN equivalent of a bacon party.

36:41. I kept hitting the "Turbo Boost" button but nothing was happening, so it was just a slow slog. At least I came in under 2x of the Brendan Line - a CrossFitNYC sandbagging metric - so that's a plus.

Jack - Michelle's tattoo should read "Bitches get stuff done!" (From http://jezebel.com/360093/tina-fey-on-snl-bitch-is-the-new-black)

26:58 as Rxd (PR by 4:17 compared to 080115)

- High point: 37 double-unders in a row.

- Low point: K2E. I hate those. They have no discernable effect on the rest of my performance ("Oh noes, my grip is failing me on 45# push-presses!"?? Unlikely.) but they take me forever since I can only hang on for 2-3 at a time. I hate those. Burpees are horrible too, but at least they hurt.

Suckage: Jogging home because I was late for the movies.

Lots of impressive performances last night. Say it loud, people: I'm (part of an inspiring group of athletes that trains at the) Black (Box) and I'm proud!

Almost forgot: great job running the show, Coach P.

Thanks Ewen, and good work everyone!

Evan, you would need to have a parent come in and sign you in/up. The Tuesday/Thrusday elements starts in the middle of March. That is where you would need to start. Come in for the free newbies class on Wednesday evening 6PM or Saturday morning 10AM. Look forward to meeting you.

mike@crossfitnyc.com

Oh I would even need a parent to sign in for me for the beginning newbie class? If so thats probably not a big deal, im pretty determined after hearing all these results...
