Rub it out!
I just learned that Ryan Gracie passed away last week. Ryan was considered the bad boy of the Gracie family, but I remember him fondly as a great coach and fighter. I trained a lot harder when he was watching me due to equal parts fear and respect. My thoughts and prayers go out to his brother, Renzo, and the whole Gracie family.

    And thanks for the competition in today’s lunchtime class. I know I pushed a lot harder with your presence there. And I most certainly needed that push with the horrible DOMS I’ve still got kickin’ from those 400 damn walking lunges…
    It was great to get my first running in since the marathon, and my pullups felt great.

    Sorry Allison no picture available as I havent made them yet. Plan on doing that around 430 when I get home from teaching the kiddies all day. Am thinking squats, broad jumps and parachute play!

    The bet was that Marisela *would* be able to do a pullup *before* the new year. If she does, she pays me $5. Otherwise I pay her $5. Key points follow:
    – I made the bet to encourage Marisela to get a pullup before 2008. Idea being, she can get all the accolades and such that comes with that first one *AND* pick up $5 if she just knocks one out right quick. IMHO, to bet against someone being able to do something like that seems rather assholian, especially here at the BB.
    – Since making the bet, I have challenged her to knock out that pullup several times. If I was so concerned about losing money, I know I would have at least idly thought about Nancy Kerriganing her with The Bone some time ago. As it stands, no such thoughts are in my head.
    – I observed on the night of the bet – and several times since – that the nature of the bet put me at a bit of risk here. That it would be interesting if she [Shattner voice] “Just…couldn’t…make it…up…” by the 31st. Then on 1 Jan it’s all “Hey Moon – look at this….[kip], [kip], [typewriter], [kip], [kip]. It’s a f-ing New Year’s Miracle! PLANO-SYDE BARTENDAZ!!! Now pay me, bitch!”

    I’ll be bringing a bottle of Vodka, Whiskey, and Rum, and 2 40s, and a Burger King crown-for Keith. Someone needs to bring chasers or we will be explaining to a lot of people how working out leaves you intoxicated…and not the mental high!
    Are we working out before or after the drinks-It’d be fun to watch that video!

    What’s the deal with the workout? I can’t make the 12:30 class but want to do Ryan. Can I do the workout before the party?
    Is anyone actually getting dressed up for this? I’m going out in a little bit and probably won’t be able to come home before the party. I have about 300 pairs of jeans but haven’t been caught out of my house wearing anything but LuLuLemons. I’d have to bring something to change into if that’s the case. I don’t think they fit me anymore anyway.

    A word to the wise: don’t attempt wod’s when you feel like death. I had assumed it would make me feel better but attempting Badger merely made me feel like death warmed up.
    After an evening of copious amounts of tea, orange juice and sleep and more guzzling of vitamin c today, I feel like something vaguely approaching human.
    What was disturbing was I spent all night dreaming of crossfit and being forced to do tabata handstand shots. Thus I feel compelled to note that tonight my body will be a temple of tranquility and on no account will I be lured by burpees, box jumps or barbells…

    went today to crossfit plano. this was the WOD there:
    warm-up
    800m run
    15 ohs
    15 shoulder dislocates
    20 second samson stretch
    15 push ups
    15 pull ups
    15 ring dips
    work-out
    tabata squats
    400m sprints
    max toes to bar
    max dips
    holy cow patties!
    my legs are beat. turns out they do the WOD’s from exactly a year ago from HQ.
    i did:
    16
    1:28
    6 (KTE)
    2 on stationary bars
    they have some serious powerhouse women there. one of the women did 18 tabata and she is twice my age!
    she told me that i can’t pull up kipping because i’m not using my hips. i’ll try that tomorrow. i am determined to get it now. i was so close today.
    moon is correct. he told me he thought i could already do a pull up and i was sand bagging, and i told him that i am weak as a kitten and i couldn’t.
    he said “i bet you’ll get one by the new year”
    i said, “i don’t think so…”
    and the backwards bet was born. i WANT to pay him the money now. i didn’t when i made the bet.
    so…moon, you’ll get your money, bitch!!!
    hmmm, doesn’t sound so mean anymore
    enjoy your little party tonight without me :( i’ll be here. watching reality tv and eating. i’m gonna weigh 200lbs when i get back!

    Bringing oatmeal cookies that are tongue-friendly and body-destroying. Zone/Paleo-adherents are strongly recommended to take small bites.
    To finish baking, will have to miss today’s WOD. :( And this after learning that when you miss a WOD, God kills a kitten.

    Yuli- u dont know me but I know u-you actually have helped me a bunch at Lululemon and I work with your friend Vanessa Lui!-if she ever complains about someone named Michelle dumping a lot of work on her on her days off-thats me- hope to c u at crossfit-I showed Vanessa the pitcures from the beginner class to see if u made it. But she said you were not there. :) next time I am at Lulu I will introduce myself.
    as for dressing up allisonnyc-i will be coming from a big work function so i will be dressed up which onlymean that now anothe rblack piece of clothing i won will have chalk all over it. at least i wont be enncouraged to try any flying kip work 2 night. not that kind of outfit.
    ok if we are having pie and cookie si think cupcakes may be overkill. what else might we need? we should order pizza!
