Tabata Tuesdays

Tuesday 070821
“Tabata Something Else”
Complete 32 intervals of 20 seconds of work followed by ten seconds of rest where the first 8 intervals are pull-ups, the second 8 are push-ups, the third 8 intervals are sit-ups, and finally, the last 8 intervals are squats. There is no rest between exercises.
Post total reps from all 32 intervals to comments.

    i think we still call you a2. its just easier that way. think of it as your payment for being so incredibly fit :)
    and as for sucking it up, i would if could breath, but i have to do the billion dollar tabata workout today.

    Total: 356
    1st time doing this, clear my pushups still suck despite doing 3×20 in cfwu on every wod day. I thought I thought I’d do better at pullups too. Been doing 3×15 in cfwu. Come to think of it, I want all of my numbers higher. Tabata squat pr is 20.

    If you look at the rules for this workout, Juan, you’ll see that the scoring is total reps. It’s different than our usual way of scoring tabatas. I’ve made the same mistake before.

    hey guys what can i sub for pullups. i am in the beverly wishire hotel (a la pretty woman fame) and while they have a lot of fancy water in the gym and women walking ( strolling) on inclines on treadmills holding 5 lb weights in their hands (why???) believe it or not they do not have pullup bars:)

    pull-up: 15, 11, 10, 8, 8, 7, 6, 7= 72
    push-up: 20, 15, 12, 8, 9, 8, 8, 7= 87
    Sit-up: 16, 15, 14, 13, 13, 12, 12, 12= 107
    Squat: 19, 12, 10, 10, 9, 9, 10, 11= 90
    Total: 356
    I died on the squats but I had a night of HEAVY drinking last night so I’m pretty happy with these results I didn’t get to do the front squat WOD from yesterday but I’ll do it tomorrow and post my results for that.

    Screech.
    I saw that post on the main site. I call shenanigans. That’s total BS. I’ve never seen or heard of anybody doing full range of motion on those exercises that could perform that many reps.
    My guess is that he is interpreting those exercises in his own unique way. This goes back to my discussion with Dammit yesterday. We can’t compare somebody who does half reps or cheated reps with somebody who does legitimate reps. It’s apples and oranges.
    Annie Sakamoto who is small and fast has a tabata squat score of 27 (a minimum 216 by today’s scoring). OPT who is a speed demon did 170 squats today. This guy Shawn’s score of 220 is unlikely at best. I have never seen anybody do that many pushups in 20 seconds with full range of motion.

    All I can say was my squats stunk! I had diff with range of motion and even doing them. I think its all those heavy FS yesterday–not an excuse I know (I hear your voice Tyler)
    Then I cleaned the bathroom and around a bit. Everyone lets try to keep it clean–at least for a little while!
    Then I had the honor of being the official photographer and timekeeper for the lunchtime class and also for Chad who came in early. Guys you are a super bunch of athletes; each and every one of you was inspiring to watch. I cant say I was jealous of your work cuz I was trashed by then. The link for the photos is here:

    Then it was a 500m row for me. Although it was 7sec faster than I ever rowed–my form was way off and I dont want to count it as a PR!

    So I am in boston for a couple of days and this afternoon I stop by the BSC boston sports club and I head right for the dumbbells and start doing my thing, dumbbell swings, dumbbell cleans etc.
    Then I grab a bar and practice my cleans and of course a trainer comes over and tells me “you cant do that here” and I say “do what? work hard?” I smile and continue on.
    I miss the box. See you guys on Thursday!

    Today’s WOD was a group bonding experience.Good job gang. Total score was 275-crappy! But happy i got 61 pullups. I got to push myself hard especially with Kevin Dammit and Dan Def’s ridiculous scores. You guys are inspirational.
    I agree with Keith no way that dude banged out that many reps with full range of motion. Cheaters! Keith you got the gang revved up today.
    Allison, Sunny and Marisela-the Crossfit women set the bar high fellas. We got to keep up!
    Puke the Clown almost came through. He’s watching people…waiting!

    One of the CrossFit Oakland athletes got 421 today, all legit, witnessed by a trainer with full ROM. However 658 does seem impossible, esp. the squats and push-ups, I would guess if they really did it they might have been doing “body spasm” style.
    However. I was equally skeptical when I saw OPT post a 90 second legit full-ROM Diane,but the man posted video and it was legit!

    I saw OPT’s vid and although his time is amazing, His handstand pushups leave a lot to be desired. His ROM is hugely decreased by how wide apart his hands are. He’s going up and down in a range of like 4-6 inches. I would like to see him do “real” HSPU’s where the hands are set more like a Shoulder press or military press. Just outside the shoulders. Watch how gymnasts do HSPU’s and you will see the difference.

    Great job everyone! I might try to fit this in today.
    Sarena: I admire your mindset as regards form, but you should count your rowing PR. Contrary to “CF girl” workouts or lifting competitions, where improper form or range of motion can invalidate a score, rowing is like running, biking and other such sports. Getting to the finish line is almost the only thing that counts. In fact, bad form can in no way be considered an advantage and can only slow you down (especially on water, but that’s another story).
    If it makes you feel better, you can disregard your PR because you think it looked ugly, but remember that there are no style points in rowing.
