Minute by Minute

| | Comments (76)

This evening, Alan, Dan, Graham and I did a variant on the WOD:

One pull-up the first minute,
Two thrusters the second minute,
Three pull-ups the third minute,
Four thrusters the fourth minute,
going back and forth as long as you're able.

We made it to the fourteenth minute before falling apart, each hoisting dumbell thruster weights ranging from twenty-five to forty pounds.

Following the workout, we hit some ring push-up variations, handstand practice (where Keith's superior skills were sorely missed), and l-sits.

As reflected in the updated sidebar, the new schedule proposed in the last post kicks in this very evening. Show up any Monday, Wednesday or Saturday from here on out; we'd love to have you.

Tentative Schedule

It looks like our future schedule may be:

Monday @ 7:00pm
Wednesday @ 7:00pm
Saturday @ 10:00am

Officially kicking off January 30th, and going until we all die or are kicked out yet again.

Any thoughts?

5 Points

It seems we may have found a new home, as Wednesday's session at Five Points went off without a hitch.

Alan, Stanton, Krischelle, Dan and Graham blazed their way through the workout, which Tariq kindly helped lead up.

After warming up with a round of Tabata squats, the workout was:

New Gym Gone Bad
3 rounds of 5 stations, 1 minute each; minute rest between rounds.

Thrusters
Pullups
Ring Dips
KB Swings
Burpees

Theoretically, score was total reps. However, as nearly everybody lost track of their scores on at least one round, did some static holds on the rings, and mixed a variety of jumping and non-jumping pullups, I'm not sure how representative they are. Nonetheless:

Alan: 139
Dan: 169
Graham: 190
Krischelle: 173
Stanton: 174

---

More importantly, it looks like 5 Points is going to be a great fit. We're working out details for a permanent schedule, and will be posting here shortly with details on the regular rotation moving forward.

It'll be nice to get back to work!

CFNYC rises from its own ashes.

Ever since The Trainer's Place suddenly and unexpectedly went out of business, CrossFit NYC has been searching for a new home. We thought we had locked one in, but the recent Times article scared them off. And while we've been looking in to building out a space all our own, it's clear that's more of a long-term than immediate solution.

Fortunately, however, in the wake of a considerably more positive article in this month's Men's Journal, the owners of Five Points Fitness, a gym and Muay Thai school down in SoHo, tracked us down.

They're excited to have us in the space, and we're excited to, finally, after much, much delay, get classes rolling again. While we still need to powwow on permanent class-times as we move forward, to test out Five Points and get things back on track, we'll be holding class this very Wednesday. The details:

What: CFNYC Kicks off 2006
When: Wednesday, January 18th @ 7:00pm
Where: Five Points Fitness
[444 Broadway, just above the N/R/W, 4/5/6 or A/C/E Canal Street stops]

The class will be a general easing back in, and therefore a 'gentle' introduction for any new attendees. Bring yourself, your gym clothes, and $15 to buy our way into Five Points' heart.

Assuming things run (relatively) smoothly that first class, we'll be jumping back in to a regular rotation. So, if you can't make it Wednesday, but would like to be generally kept in the loop, certainly let us know.
